Design Philosophy
A case of style emerging from comfort, Humilis is a thoughtful design. Initiated from a deliberate focus on shaping a comfortable solid wood chair, rejecting the notion solid wood chairs can’t be comfortable. Fine-tuning exact angles and curves over three years, Franco has perfected lower lumber support creating both a sculpturally striking design and a relaxing place to sit.
I chose the name Humilis, meaning low and humble in Latin, to reflect the minimalist clean lines and low floating back of its design. Although restrained, Humilis has a strong visual dynamic that adds interest and a point of difference to both traditional and modern homes.
