Care and Maintenance

FrancoCrea products are designed to shape your life. Accordingly, all of our products are built with enormous care and craftsmanship to ensure they can withstand life’s experiences, day by day.

However, to ensure your product is able to continue to be an integral part of your lifestyle, ongoing care and maintenance to encourage its longevity, and keep it looking ‘as new’.


Instigating a regular maintenance regime will ensure many years of trouble free service from your FrancoCrea product. The frequency of cleaning will vary according to the required appearance and environment. Where salts/ pollutants are more prevalent, such as seaside and industrial areas, a cleaning program should be carried out more frequently. When moving furniture be careful not to drag the item.

Powder coat Metal

Wash regularly with warm soapy water and mild detergent using a soft cloth. Always rinse well with water, to remove remaining detergent. Avoid scratching the surface by dry dusting. Do not allow dirt to accumulate, dry out and harden. Abrasive cleaning agents are not recommended.

Powder coat Metal – Outdoor

Powder coat, for outdoor use, is applied to either Aluminium or stainless steel. While it assists with metal protection, it is not a corrosion protection in its own right. Minor corrosion spots under table tops, seats and bases do not affect the structural integrity of the product and are not covered by warranty. Whilst every care is taken to provide the most suitable finish according to the use and the environment the product will be subjected to, Franco Crea can’t guarantee this decorative finish against scratching, scuffing, chipping, fading or corrosion and as a result of direct use in harsh seafront locations. When choosing a colour for outdoor use please select a suitable UV stable choice, as the product is not warranted against natural fading.

Stainless Steel

Wash regularly with soapy water or detergent using a soft clean cloth, and if necessary, a 3M Scotch Brite Pad. Remove non washable deposits on stainless steel surface with an approved cleaner eg: 3M Stainless cleaner, Jif, or Ajax. Clean in one direction only, along the original polish lines. Rinse well with water. Abrasive cleaning products are not recommended. Do not allow dirt to accumulate, dry out and harden.

Please Note: Tea Staining will occur on the Stainless Steel when in proximity to the coast. It does not effect the strength or longevity of the material. Clean monthly to maintain.

Fenix NTM + Compact Laminate

Dust with a soft, non oily cloth and wipe spills using a clean damp cloth. For more stubborn stains use hot water and mild liquid soap, then remove with clean water. Repeat several times if necessary. To prevent streaks or smears, always rub surface dry with an absorbent clean cloth. Abrasive cleaning products are not recommended.

Timber – Solid + Veneer

As timber is sealed with a protective urethane lacquer the only maintenance required is to regularly wipe timber with a clean, damp cloth to remove dust and dirt. For more stubborn stains use hot water and a mild liquid soap, then remove with clean water. Repeat several times if necessary. Oils or other polishes are not necessary. Avoid contact with liquid, heat and keep out of direct sunlight. Abrasive cleaning products are not recommended. For outdoor applications keep furniture in covered areas away from direct sunlight for extended periods.

Paint – Polyurethane

As the painted mdf is sealed with a protective polyurethane lacquer the only maintenance required is to regularly wipe timber with a clean, damp cloth to remove dust and dirt. For more stubborn stains use hot water and a mild liquid soap, then remove with clean water. Repeat several times if necessary. Oils or other polishes are not necessary. Avoid contact with liquid, heat and keep out of direct sunlight. Abrasive cleaning products are not recommended, as they may damage the surface.

Corian Solid Surface


Day-to-day cleaning:

By nature, Corian is easy to clean and easy to care for. As a general rule, when cleaning Corian, always start with a simple clean. Avoid using abrasive scouring pads for routine cleaning.

Managing day-today food and liquid spills:

If food or liquids (i.e. wine or coffee) spill onto the surface, simply wipe your Corian surface with a damp sponge or cloth. Thanks to the non-porosity of Corian, this will hygienically clean your Corian surface.

Most dirt & grime:

Use hot soapy water or an ammonia-based cleaner along with a damp sponge or cloth. Rinse clean. You can also use hot water mixed with baking soda and vinegar, applied with a non-scratch sponge. Rinse clean afterwards, using a clean soft cloth.

Water marks:

Wipe your surface with a damp sponge or cloth and towel dry. Hard water leaves visible water marks on Corian, just as on glassware, which is why it should be wiped dry with a soft cloth. If marks persist, try the method outlined under Deep Clean – Stubborn Stains.


Stubborn stains

For more stubborn stains you will need to occasionally give your Corian surface a more thorough clean and refresh using a mild abrasive cleaner like Gumption* paste cleaner, Jif** Cream Cleanser or Ajax*** cream or powder cleanser.

Firmly wipe your Corian surface with either a non-scratch Scotch-Brite™ pad or a damp cloth, using a wide circular motion. Always finish by rinsing and wiping your surface with a damp cloth or sponge. The Vileda(®)**** range of cloths and non-scratch scourers are recommended by Corian.

Light marks & scuffs

Most light marks and scuffs may be removed by wiping your surface firmly with a damp sponge or cloth and a mild abrasive cleanser. However, if this technique fails to work, please contact our Customer Service at [email protected] to personally discuss other care alternatives.

Please be aware, using abrasive cleaners on your Corian surface may change your sheen level. By routinely cleaning the entire surface consistently the sheen should return over time.

Brass + Copper – Coated

Our brass + copper products are finished with a clear coat of lacquer designed to be applied to these metals.  Gently wipe clean with a soft cloth on a regular basis to remove dust and dirt particles. Please be aware that rubbing too hard on this lacquer may cause the lacquer to rub-off and break-away. Damp sponge can be used to wipe over, but please ensure a clean, dry cloth is used afterwards, so the metal is not left damp.

Brass + Copper – Uncoated

Our brass + copper products, are natural metals, and if they are left uncoated, will require to be cleaned from time to time – if you are wanting to remove marks and discolouration, which is caused by the oxidisation natural process. It is a simple process that should not be a deterrent, if you want to maintain it’s natural polished of satin finish.

Brass with Patina effect

If your brass has a patina applied to it, then this has been finished with a wax coating to ensure the colour is retained and will not oxidise. Over time the wax will be worn, by coming into contact with hands, so if you are wanting to retain the original finish, of this product, then you will need to apply some clear wax to a soft cloth and gently rub it into the brass. For best results, apply the wax following the grain on the brass (one direction only), then let is harden for 24 hours before using it again.


Regular Care
  • Protect from direct sunlight, heating and weather
  • Dust on a regular basis with a clean dry cloth

  • Gently remove all spills immediately with dry clean cloth
  • Do not scrub or rub hard
  • Do not use damp cloth
  • Do not use shoe polish, saddle soap or unidentified leather cleaners, pastes or abrasives
  • Use leather cleaners only in strict accordance with manufacturer’s instructions
  • Regularly clean contact areas (arms/headrests) to avoid build-up of perspiration and body oils
  • Dust before cleaning
  • When vacuuming use soft attachment
  • We recommend cleaning by specialists using only leather care products appropriate to leather type
  • Dry in shade away from heat

Fabric (Wool and Velvet)

Regular Care
  • Protect from direct sunlight
  • Vacuum regularly using low suction
  • Rotate reversible cushions regularly

Cleaning Overview

  • Do not remove covers for separate cleaning
  • Do not use dishwashing or laundry detergents
  • Do not saturate the fabric or wet filling
  • Wipe gently, do not rub
  • Dry in shade away from direct heat and sunlight
  • Allow to dry thoroughly before re-use
  • Gently vacuum to restore pile

Cleaning Methods

Spot Cleaning:

  • Treat spills and stains as soon as possible
  • Gently scrape soil or mop liquid from the fabric
  • Do not scrub
  • Apply cleaning agents strictly according to instructions to remove the residue of the spill
  • May be spot cleaned with dry-cleaning solvent

Shampoo Clean:

  • May be cleaned using upholstery shampoo

Hot Water Clean:

  • Clean with hot water extraction machine (hot)
  • Use upholstery detergent

Dry Clean:

  • Cleaned using an on-site dry-cleaning machine
  • Extract solvent thoroughly after application
  • Caution: exhaust solvent vapour outside building and provide ventilation during cleaning and drying
  • Avoid use of room during drying period
  • 92% polyester 5% cotton 3% latex

Warranty information

Your purchase is covered by the following warranty:


5 year structural warranty shall apply to domestic use.

3 year structural warranty shall apply to commercial use.

10 year structural warranty shall apply to the framework of our upholstered products.

We guarantee the quality of our design and workmanship, of all our products, and expect them to provide a lifetime of enjoyment.

The warranty is for the initial purchaser of Franco Crea products and is valid for as long as the product is owned by the original purchaser. The warranty is not transferable.

This covers faulty workmanship in furniture that is subject to normal domestic or commercial application and which has been carefully maintained and sensibly used.

The warranty excludes materials by other manufacturers. If such materials are agreed to be defective we will use reasonable endeavours to assist negotiating a satisfactory settlement with the supplier on your behalf.  Such suppliers can provide warranties relating to the performance of materials supplied by them.

During the warranty period the FrancoCrea™ will replace or repair any defective products without charge so long as the damage does not arise from improper, inadequate or incorrect usage, including but not limited to the following:

  • improper adjustment, calibration or operation by the buyer;
  • the use of accessories which were not manufactured by or approved in writing by the seller;
  • any contamination or leakages caused or induced by the buyer;
  • any modifications of the product which was not authorised in writing by the seller;
  • any misuse of the product by the buyer or anyone for whom the buyer has legal   responsibility (including a minor);
  • any use or operation of the product outside of the physical, electrical or environmental specifications of the products;
  • inadequate or incorrect site preparation; and
  • inadequate or improper maintenance of the product.


Solid timber is a natural product and is therefore subject to changes in the environment. Any movement in timber as a result of change in air moisture content or fluctuating temperatures cannot be guaranteed.


We use aniline leather on our upholstery products. This is a pure and most natural leather that can be used . It is also the most premium and highest quality leather that is available for upholstery products. As this leather is natural, and only dyed (to obtain it’s colour), natural marks and scares may appear on the leather. This is not a defect of the leather, but a natural mark that is inherent from the cow hide.

Warranty Claim

Claims can be made through the place from which the furniture was purchased.

An inspection of the product will be required to determine the nature and cause of the alleged defect. This will be conducted by FrancoCrea™ and you will be advised whether the claim is covered by this warranty.

All transportation charges incurred in returning defective products, or any of its component parts, for repair, together with the cost of returning them to the buyer must be paid by the buyer.
