Very proud to announce Mena has been shortlisted at this year’s prestigious Interior Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) | Object – Furniture & Lighting Category (professional).

Thanks to Niche Media, IDEA Awards, and the jury for considering the Mena sofa + armchair. There were so many entries this year, so it is very special to be recognised as one of the leaders in design.

Mena is a luxury armchair and sofa collection that finds the harmonious balance between elegance and comfort.  

Designed to exude the same strength and gracefulness of Franco’s late mother, this collection is the expression of ultimate refinement and the warmth of family. A fully-upholstered designer armchair and sofa range, the Mena collection exhibits its own assertive, striking design language, with strong lines, sharp geometry, luxurious diamond hand-stitched quilting, and floating chamfered timber arm frames; with the option of an exquisite, removable, metal micro ledge. The luxury armchair and sofa designs cleverly harness concealed fixings, utilising powerful hidden fasters to produce a stunningly minimalistic yet incredibly complex resolution. The timber arms gracefully anchor each end of the soft sumptuous upholstery. 

Upholstery of the highest quality is an intimate element of the Mena collection providing absolute comfort whilst maintaining its stunningly minimalistic aesthetic.  Offered in full aniline leather or a New Zealand wool/alpaca blend in a variety of colours to select from the suit the specific interior home or office it will nestle into.  The solid hardwood timber arms are available in American oak, American walnut, and stained oak options. The optional metal ledge rests perfectly within the timber frame and is available in solid stainless steel and solid brass in a variety of finishes. 

The Mena designer armchair and sofa are specifically designed to sit in both public and private spaces and work perfectly as a standalone piece or as part of the complete set. Equally stunning in a  commercial entrance foyer as they are at home by the fireplace.

How we approach sustainability with our Mena collection is important to us.

We carefully source our leather upholstery to be 100% rapidly renewable and procured as an agricultural by-product. It is important for us that the leather production process improves water and energy reusability + recycling, and that renewable energy makes up at least 30% of the energy consumption, and is 100% non-potable water use. The leather we use is free of the toxic substances PFCs, flame retardants, phthalates + urea-formaldehyde sometimes found in leathers.

For our wool upholstery, we are specific to source fabric that absorbs indoor air contaminants and is 80% biodegradable and recyclable. 

We also ensure the finishing on our timbers use only water-based conditioning systems, are certified low-VOC, and meets the Green Star emission requirements. 

Local artisans are used in the creation of the Mena luxury armchair and sofa; maintaining a local team means we lower our carbon footprint by reducing the distance needed for transportation.  Unlike furniture made overseas and shipped to Australia, our special pieces find their forever home or office space much closer to where they are originally created.
